We are going to try and find out how many Magpie breeders there are in Tasmania! I am sure the Society contacted other breed clubs in UK but it seems like a lot of expense to go to to attempt to drum up support on the other side of the world (literally). I contacted to say it seemed strange that they get in touch with clubs on the other side of the world, the Show Manager replied with the following, so any Tasmanian Magpie breeders do get in touch:
Thanks for your email. We do find it
does create a lot of interest having prize cards or rosettes from
other countries and we are happy to reciprocate. Your club may wish
to consider this for another year. I don't know the exact number of
Magpie breeders in this State but they have always been a popular
breed and I understand of reasonably high quality.
Good to hear from you.
Regards
Brian Bennett

Ronnie was a Magpie breeder and exhibitor for a lot of years but not only a Magpie man, he had an in depth knowledge of many breeds. He was not only a pigeon man, he was a man of the country. We spent many a happy hour leaning over a pigeon pen talking about birds, farming and the general state of the countryside. All of us from the Magpie Club will miss Ronnie and send our sympathies to all the family.
